- Introduction of product:Hexylresorcinol is an organic compound with local anaesthetic, antiseptic, and anthelmintic properties. It is available for use topically on small skin infections, or as an ingredient in throat lozenges. Hexylresorcinol is an alkylresorcinol (AR), a type of phenolic lipid, that can be found naturally in whole grain wheat and rye. In skincare, hexylresorcinol is known to function as a skin-brightening agent.
- How does it work:As an antiseptic agent, studies have demonstrated that hexylresorcinol is capable of eliciting actions like reducing or inhibiting the generation of bacterial biofilm, interfering with bacterial cell chain formation, reducing bacterial adherence of the pharynx, inhibition of glycolytic enzyme and pH drops.Hexylresorcinol is an over-the-counter (OTC) product used for temporary relief following occasional mouth and throat symptoms including minor irritation, pain, sore mouth, and sore throat.
- Applications Or where it is used:Hexylresorcinol is used as an antiseptic in mouthwashes and skin wound cleansers. It exhibits antiseptic, anthelmintic, and local anesthetic properties. It can be found in topical applications for minor skin infections and in oral solutions or throat lozenges for pain relief and first aid antiseptic. 4-Butylresorcinol, sometimes called 4-n-butylresorcinol, is a chemical used to treat hyperpigmentation of the epidermis. Hyperpigmentation is believed to be related to the chemical tyrosinase which causes the production of melanin.
- How does it work?:
4-n-Butylresorcinol 0.3% cream has recently been introduced in India as a new hypopigmenting agent. It is a resorcinol derivative and acts by inhibiting both tyrosinase and tyrosinase-related protein-1.

The resulting clinical improvement of skin hyperpigmentations reveals 4-n-butylresorcinol as a very valuable active compound for the management of pigmentation disorders.
- Side effects:
However, a relatively longterm application of 4-n-butylresorcinol was necessary to achieve the hypopigmenting effect in the previous studies. Additionally, adverse events, including mild erythema, dryness, peeling and desquamation, were experienced in 8/28 patients (28.6%) in a recent double-blind study10.

Introduction of product:Pullulan is a polysaccharide polymer consisting of maltotriose units, also known as α-1,4-;α-1,6-glucan'. Three glucose units in maltotriose are connected by an α-1,4 glycosidic bond, whereas consecutive maltotriose units are connected to each other by an α-1,6 glycosidic bond. Pullulan is widely used in the food industry. It is low-digesting, tasteless as well as odorless, hence its application as a low-calorie food additive providing bulk and texture.
- How does it work:Pullulan has adhesive properties and can be used to form fibers, compression moldings, and strong, oxygen-impermeable films. In food industry, pullulan films can be employed as coating or packaging materials of dried foods, as a binder for tobacco, seed coatings and plant fertilizers, as low viscosity filler in beverages and sauces, as binder and stabilizer in food pastes, to inhibit fungal growth in foods.
